My grandmother was Neva HURST of Wythe Co Virginia. She was born 1894 in the Reed Creek section Wythe Co VA, and died in Poplar Camp, Wythe Co VA. She was the daughter of Alice HURST. She married George Madison SHELTON, son of Charles Madison SHELTON and Nelia Frances NAPIER. He was born 8 JUL 1881 in Patrick Co VA, and died JUN 1978 in Wythe Co VA. We are descendants of two Hurst lines! Samuel HURST was born October 9,1808 in Wythe Co VA, and died 9 MAY 1881. Wythe Co Va 1880 census shows his father to have been born in Maryland. I believe William Hurst and Rachel Cummins to be his parents. Lucinda HURST was born 1812. She was the daughter of William HURST and Mildred WHITLOCK

Allen Forrest HURST was born on the 19th of October, 1843 in Wythe Co VA, and died 1929. He married Amanda Jane McCAMMACK 1872 in IN, daughter of James and Lucinda McCAMMACK . v. Sarah E HURST was born June 9, 1846 in Wythe Co VA. She married William R. TIPTON on August 21, 1869. vi. Lucinda W. HURST was born Aug 26, 1848 in VA. She married Aaron J. WILLIAMS on February 7,1881. vii. Rachel C "Tina" HURST was born February 23, 1851 in Wythe Co VA. She married Joseph M. OWENS. Children of Rufus and Virginia were: i. James Monroe Hurst born Feb 1864 married Sophia E Coulson. ii. Sarah "Sallie" Alice Hurst, b. 1866 in Wythe Co, VA. . She married Warren Spencer. iii. Lucy Hurst born about 1867 iv.John Hurst born 1869 v.Susan Hurst born 1870 vi.. Nancy Hurst born 1873 She married James B. Jefferson vii. Samuel Hurst born February 1876 and married Rebecca Ann Clark King and Mary Myrtle Hanley viii. C. Lenora Hurst born Sep 1881 married Joshua Lawrence Richardson ix. W. M. Hurst born circa 1885 Neva Shelton was daughter of Alice Hurst. She married George Madison Shelton of Patrick Co VA. They made their home in Wythe Co, Virginia.
